“Namaste. Bula. G’day. Howdy. And Aloha! Welcome to Gigi wanders.”
In Gigi wanders I don’t focus on one topic or theme, but rather present a variety of subjects and musings.
Without planning or design, I’ve lived in different countries and cultures, studied disparate disciplines, and lead a relatively unconventional lifestyle. As such, I’m multifaceted, interested in everything, and curious about the nature of being – the business of ‘is-ness’ in life, if you will.
So, it’s about words. It’s about ideas. It’s about images.
It’s about you. It’s about me. It’s about us. Sharing.
I’m imbued with a special joy and excitement in ‘presenting’ to you, and I hope you receive it in the same spirit. Because, in the end, isn’t it all quite strange and so very wonderful?
And now for the, ahem, official version …
~*~
Gigi’s life maps a triangle of three different countries.
Born and raised in the Fiji Islands, the South Pacific remains the guardian and host of all her best memories. She finished high school at St. Catherine’s in Sydney, Australia, and went on to study, with distinction, Economics (B.Ec), Political Science (B.A), and International Relations (MA.IR) at the Australian National University in Canberra.
Emerging as a blend of island girl and laid-back Aussie, and realizing belatedly that she didn’t want to be an economist, political scientist, or diplomat, Gigi began traveling the globe even more extensively than she did as a child with her family.
Gigi has lived in various cities on the Australian continent, called Teton Valley, Wyoming, home for a while, and currently resides in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
She considers the world her home, its people her family, and her citizenship as international.

Hey Gigi, a blast from the past but have been trying to get in touch with you. I have just come upon your blog and thought this may get to you. You have been a busy person and I have some reading to do.
How interesting – and I can’t believe you wondered… away from Fiji!
I’m saving up and saving up to travel to Fiji!
Steve
Oh, you’ll probably never leave, Steve.
Funny story, as a girl growing up in Fiji, my best friend was our next door neighbor, Robi Wilcock. He was an artist, born and raised in Yorkshire, and was the national wrestling champion in his homeland back in the day.
Robi taught me about art and how to paint oil paintings. He taught me in a really terrific way – when he was working on a canvas in his verandah, he’d yell for me and I’d run across and just sit and watch what he did, while we chatted. It was a great way for him to convey knowledge whilst keeping my personal style unique and pure.
I was a very lucky little girl to have a friend like Robi.
BTW, lots of good local wood in Fiji.
G

Thank you so much for liking my short story (it really means a lot to me). I’m going to have to find a way to manufacture time, because I keep coming across increasingly awesome blogs to read (yours being the most recent)!
Thanks.
And, I predict that will be the next big thing in manufacturing ;,)
Apple’s already patented the rights!
And no likelihood of an IPO ;,)
Way to live! And nice to meet another global citizen (I haven’t yet travelled very far, but I think beyond borders….).

We were that, once upon a time.
Hi Gigi, I found your rather brilliant “hoax” comment on Tom’s blog. Loved it and followed it to your blog. The spirit and quality of your thoughts and writing are great.
Chris
Wow! Your feedback adds fuel to my writing fire.
My ‘hoax’ for Tom was to enact an experiment where we are often outraged when others malign us, yet we find it quite acceptable to do it to ourselves. Repeatedly, I might add.
Thanks for your kind words, Chris.
Hi Gigi…thanks for dropping in on my blog. Just took a tour around yours. Feels good here! Looking forward to learning more…
Jonathan
Feels good to know you feel good here, Jonathan!
Welcome. And make yourself at home.
Gigi
Gigi,
Not sure how you made your way to my blog but how lucky for me you did.
I’m thinking about the many thoughtful replies you left behind.
I’m also eager to spend more time here. I’ve already read enough of your work to know two things. You write because you must. And you write with style and heart.
So glad that we have connected.
Tom
Me too re connection.
Style and heart, I like that!
